Jamie Lee Curtis signs books with LPLC

On December 20th actress and children’s author Jamie Lee Curtis signed books on behalf of the Lee Pesky Learning Center in Ketchum, Idaho. The event was held at the nexStage Theater on Main St. in Ketchum.

Jamie Lee Curtis signed, It’s Hard to be Five: Learning How to Work My Control Panel, her most recent New York Times best selling book. It’s Hard to Be Five describes the trials a five year old encounters as he grows up and his entire life changes. Alan Pesky signed Every Child Ready to Read: Literacy Tips for Parents. The book was written by staff from LPLC and published by Random House in August 2004.

During the signing Alan and Jamie spoke about LPLC and Jamie told the story of her son who has learning disabilities. She said that he was trying to build a tower when it fell over. He got really upset and couldn’t communicate what he was feeling. Jamie looked at him and said, “It’s hard to be 5, isn’t it?!” Soon after, she discovered he had a learning disability.

Local caterers and grocery stores donated cookies, truffles, biscotti and hot drinks for the reception. A few young pianists provided the entertainment and Santa came to visit and pass out candy.
