PESKY FAMILY NAMED 2005 IDAHO PHILANTHROPISTS

The Association of Fundraising Professionals – Idaho Chapter (IAFP) named Alan and Wendy Pesky 2005 Outstanding Philanthropists. Recipients of this award are individuals or families demonstrating exceptional community contributions to non-profit organizations through volunteer and philanthropic efforts. IAFP will present the Peskys with this award at its National Philanthropy Day Awards luncheon November 16, 2005 in Boise Idaho. National Philanthropy Day celebrates the daily contributions made by individuals and organizations across the world made to countless causes and missions.

The Peskys have changed the lives of thousands of children and adults with learning disabilities. Alan and Wendy founded Lee Pesky Learning Center as a way to honor the memory of their son Lee, who grew up overcoming learning disabilities and to provide much needed services to others. The Center, located in Boise, Idaho, provides one-on-one educational instruction to individuals with learning disabilities, reaches out to schools and school systems to improve reading, writing, and math scores, and provides resources for early literacy development to parents and educators.

Past winners of the IAFP Outstanding Philanthropist Award include Warren & Bernie McCain, Tom & Diana Nicholson, J.R. & Esther Simplot, and Ron & Diana Zabala.
