An Educational Specialist works directly with students who learn differently. The Specialist follows individually designed programs of instruction and utilizes research-proven instructional methods to teach the Center’s clients. The Specialist is also responsible for planning intervention sessions, documenting student progress, communicating with parents and school personnel, and maintaining computer skills necessary to complete Center tasks.
Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree, be current in approaches to individualized instruction in mathematics, reading,and/or writing and have an understanding of learning disabilities. Applicants must also have excellent oral/written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and basic computer skills. It is preferable for applicants to have special education teaching certification and experience.
Hourly pay for instructional time: $22 for BA, $25 for MA.
Work hours: The part-time specialist must be available to work between 2 and 7 pm Monday through Friday. Actual work schedule depends upon the number of clients assigned and the client’s instructional program. The instructional hours per week can range from 2 to 14.
