Position

The Advancement Assistant works closely with the Advancement Director and plays an important support role in LPLC’s institutional advancement programs around fundraising and communications. This personable, self-motivated individual supports the full scope of LPLC’s fundraising and communication activities including—but not limited to—maintaining the donor database and files, managing the gift acknowledgement process, producing data reports, planning events, assisting with communication efforts, and general organizational duties. This position supports delivery of LPLC internal and external communications and conveys passion and commitment to LPLC’s mission at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Support LPLC’s Advancement program:
    • Maintain, enter, and update information in LPLC’s donor database (DonorPerfect)
    • Lead processing of donations and gift acknowledgment letters
    • Assist with planning and promoting events, including LPLC’s annual Spring Fundraiser
    • Support fundraising appeal efforts including the annual campaign and Running for Learning
    • Support Donor cultivation and stewardship efforts
    • Maintain Advancement office files (donation records, audit materials, grant status tracking, etc.)
  • Assist with LPLC’s external and internal communications:
    • Draft content for LPLC’s social media platforms (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn)
    • Assist Advancement Director in refreshing collateral for LPLC’s campaigns and events
    • Assist with planning and coordination of general communication and marketing needs (collecting and storing photos or content for publications, tracking photo permission forms, etc.)
    • Lead donor data pull for LPLC’s annual report
    • Generate mailing lists for communications (annual report, annual appeal letters, events etc.)
    • Send mass email communications via Constant Contact
  • Maintain confidentiality on all job-related matters and materials
  • Provide general support as needed

Essential Job Functions

  • Proof content and visual layouts of paper and electronic publications with accuracy
  • Attend meetings and LPLC events, particularly those related to advancement (online or in-person)
  • Plan and organize projects that may have timing overlap
  • Problem-solve and make decisions related to job details
  • Maintain confidential records and files
  • Complete tasks efficiently and work well with others
  • Report to work promptly and regularly
  • Operate a computer using common computer programs, databases, and web-based tools
  • Operate standard office equipment
  • Work outside of normal business hours, when necessary, for events

Qualifications

Education and experience:

  • Minimum education and work experience required:
    • High school diploma required. College courses applicable to position preferred.
    • Work Experience: Prior experience performing similar job duties, preferably with a non-profit or educational institution

Knowledge of:

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, graphic design software, donor giving database (use of Donor Perfect preferred)
  • Web and social media tools (Constant Contact, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Canva, online fundraising platforms)

Abilities:
