Lee Pesky Learning Center is an innovative educational nonprofit organization with the mission of working with our clients to understand and overcome challenges to learning so that they can find success in school and in life. As program coordinator in the Pathways to Literacy program at Lee Pesky Learning Center, you will participate in multiple aspects of the PTL program, including working with families and students who are Latinx and/or English learners. The PTL program coordinator also coordinates outreach efforts with schools, and other organizations who share LPLC’s commitment to improve literacy outcomes for English learners. Recruiting and retaining students in the program is a primary responsibility of this position. This person also teaches reading to young people in a 1:1 setting. The coordinator will assist in providing early literacy resources and parent workshops to support children’s reading development at home.

Teach reading intervention sessions for up to 4 English learning students

  • Follow prepared lesson plans for each session
  • Collect and maintain on-going data (every session) on student performance

Maintain close communication with parents or guardian

  • Provide a Learning Update to the parents or guardian at least once monthly
  • Coordinate data collection with parents for Spanish reading program
  • Conduct a final meeting with parents at program end

Administrative responsibilities

  • Write lesson Plans
  • Train, observe and mentor other tutors and Education Specialists serving students through this program
  • Participate in the development of new training curriculum and products
  • Review, evaluate, order, organize, and maintain educational materials
  • Participate in the program evaluation of Center services

Provide parent classes and external training related to this reading program

Act as a liaison between LPLC and families, including translating spoken communication when necessary

Translate early learning materials into Spanish


Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education (in literacy, bilingual education or special education)
  • Minimum 2 years working with students who are English learners
  • Experience with systematic teaching methods
  • Proficient in Spanish

Knowledge of:

  • Intervention techniques and instructional methodology
  • Special education instructional procedures and practices
  • Literacy programs for English learners


  • Teach one-one sessions and supervise others delivering instruction
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in using computerized office programs
  • Well organized, detail oriented
  • Comfortable in a team work situation
  • Has good problem solving capabilities

Compensation commensurate with degree, experience, and skills.
