The Training Specialist performs a variety of educational services for LPLC. This experienced teacher delivers assigned trainings to educators and often provides follow up support in the form of lesson planning or coaching to early educators, paraprofessionals, and certified teachers. The Training Specialist also communicates with administrators and teachers regularly, assists with curriculum and product development, and distributes LPLC materials.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery and expansion of LPLC’s Professional Development with a focus on standardized individualization
    • Deliver trainings based on evidence-based
    • Provide consultation and mentoring services
    • Assist with documenting and evaluating professional development activities
    • Attend meetings with community partners as related to LPLC’s training and consultation activities
  • Support the delivery and expansion of LPLC’s early literacy and self-regulation frameworks
    • Conduct trainings for early educators and elementary teachers
    • Assist with the development and delivery of online courses and live webinar trainings
    • Coach elementary teachers (primarily K-3) and early childhood professionals in using evidence- based literacy practices and best practices for teaching self-regulation
    • Assist with documenting and evaluating project actvities

  • Minimum education and experience required:
    • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred) in literacy or education
    • Minimum of 5 years of primary teaching experience (grades PK, K,1st, 2nd, and/or 3rd)
    • Experience presenting to educators and administrators
    • Instructional coaching experience preferred
  • Knowledge of:
    • Intervention techniques and instructional methodology (especially explicit, systematic instruction)
    • Evidence-based practices in literacy and/or mathematics
    • Reading programs
    • Early childhood teaching strategies to promote self-regulation
    • Adult learners and presentation techniques
  • Abilities:
    • Presentation skills
    • Collaboration and teamwork skills
    • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
    • Skilled with computers and computerized office programs, particularly presentation software
    • Well organized and detail oriented
    • Comfortable working with large groups
