This past September 2021, Lee Pesky Learning Center (LPLC) expressed a warm farewell to Dr. Evelyn Johnson. After a decade of leading Lee Pesky Learning Center as Executive Director and, most recently, CEO, Dr. Johnson will be continuing her professional journey as VP of Research and Development at Aperture Education. Dr. Johnson also led LPLC’s research on our unique self-regulated learner framework, the early detection of learning disabilities, and a professional development model for early childhood educators. Committed to eliminating the educational opportunity gap, Dr. Johnson led LPLC’s efforts to create a Pathways to Literacy Program which provides English learners the evidence-based reading instruction needed to enter school ready to read.
In Dr. Johnson’s words, “I’m grateful to have worked for 10 years with the most dedicated, caring, and talented professionals in the field of education. It’s been a privilege to serve students, families, teachers, and our community.”
Lee Pesky Learning Center’s board of directors and staff are excited for Dr. Johnson as she pursues a new professional opportunity, and confident in LPLC’s ability to carry forward the mission. Dr. Lindy Crawford, current Executive Director of LPLC, will assume leadership of the organization on October 1st. Dr. Crawford shares, “Evelyn took LPLC to a new level – in our community, our state, and nationally. I am honored to assume the leadership role at LPLC and excited to continue our meaningful work with families, schools, and communities to better understand and overcome obstacles to learning. I extend my gratitude to our LPLC team, board of directors, and numerous external partners. Creating a pathway to learning for everyone sometimes means forging new paths together. I am looking forward to it.”
As Lee Pesky Learning Center enters its 25th year of service to students, families, schools, and communities, we look forward to continuing the tradition of providing high-quality, evidence-based services to everyone we serve.
