At Lee Pesky Learning Center, we know that students with learning and attention challenges don’t always acquire academic skills in a typical sequence, and that “trying harder” isn’t enough. When motivation alone can’t overcome obstacles to learning, our Academic Intervention program provides the expert support, structure, and compassion students need to succeed.

Our approach begins with understanding each learner’s story. Through a comprehensive learning evaluation, we assess academic skills, self-regulation, and information processing to create a personalized learning profile. This profile informs an individualized intervention plan (developed collaboratively by our clinical and educational specialists) to build on each student’s strengths while addressing their unique challenges.

Academic Intervention sessions are one-on-one and taught by trained Education Specialists who use structured, evidence-based instruction in reading, writing, and math. Students typically engage in about 70 hours of intervention, during which progress is continuously monitored and strategies are adjusted to ensure lasting growth.

Guided by our self-regulated learner framework, we focus on the whole child, helping each student build the confidence, strategies, and resilience to become an independent learner. The impact is clear: more than 90% of our students reach or surpass their learning goals, proving that with personalized support, every learner can flourish.
