Lindy Crawford, PhD

Executive Director

Lindy Crawford rejoined Lee Pesky Learning Center as Executive Director in November 2025, bringing more than three decades of experience in education, research, administration, and advocacy for students who learn differently. She first joined LPLC in July 2020, serving as Executive Director until August 2024.

Prior to her work at LPLC, Dr. Crawford served as Professor of Special Education and held the Ann Jones Endowed Chair in Special Education at Texas Christian University (TCU). Earlier in her career, she earned tenure and promotion at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, where she served as founding Director of the Pikes Peak Research Center, Department Chair, and Associate Dean of the College of Education. She holds a Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Oregon.

Throughout her career, Dr. Crawford has dedicated herself to improving outcomes for students with learning disabilities, English learners, and adults with intellectual disabilities. Her research portfolio spans educational assessment, cognitive disabilities, bilingual education, and STEM learning, including the development of Oregon’s Extended Assessment and NASA-funded space science curricula and exhibits.

Finally, Dr. Crawford has extensive board experience, currently serving as Board Chair of The Taylor LEAD Foundation and previously as an Advisory Board member for the National Center for Learning Disabilities, Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, TX, and various private schools for students who learn differently.
