Attached is a rubric that was developed by researchers at Boise State University through a project called RESET (Recognizing Effective Special Education Teachers). The rubric reflects evidence-based practices in vocabulary instruction, and can be used by teachers to both plan and observe/evaluate their instruction.
Use this rubric to observe the video by Anita Archer, who is demonstrating an effective, direct instruction vocabulary lesson. In your rubric, indicate in the Notes section the SPECIFIC things you observed in the video that are consistent with direct instruction practices, then submit your completed rubric here. Make sure and note in each notes section what was (or was not) observed.
